Impotence

Impotence is a sexual dysfunction characterized by the inability to develop or maintain an erection of the penis for sexual intercourse. Medical professionals often use the term "erectile dysfunction" to describe this disorder. There are various underlying causes, such as cardiovascular leakage and diabetes, many of which are medically treatable.

 

Erectile dysfunction, tied closely as it is to cultural notions of potency, success and masculinity, can have devastating psychological consequences including feelings of shame, loss or inadequacy; often unnecessary since in most cases the matter can be helped. There is a strong culture of silence and inability to discuss the matter.

 

Any disorder that impairs blood flow in the penis has the potential to cause impotence. Studies shows that as the age of men increases danger of having impotence disorder is also increases. Impotence can have emotional causes but most often it is due to a physical problem.

 

Men with less education are also more likely to experience impotence, may be because they used to have less healthy lifestyles, eat a less healthy diet, drink more and exercise less. Physical exercise tends to lessen the risk of impotence. more on Impotence
