Mental Health

Mental health is a state of well-being in which every individual realizes his or her own potential, can cope with the normal stresses of life, can work productively and fruitfully, and is able to make a contribution to her or his community.

 

Basically, mental health is the psychological condition of the mind, how people look at themselves, their lives, and the other people in their lives; evaluate their challenges and problems; and explore choices. This includes handling stress, relating to other people, and making decisions. A mental illness is a psychiatric disorder that results in a disruption in a person's thinking, feeling, moods, and ability to relate to others. Mental illness is distinct from the legal concept of insanity. Mental health problems are real, painful and can be severe. They can lead to school failure, loss of friends, or family conflict.

 

Good mental health can bring successful working of mental functions - results in the good coordination of all parts of human body.

Mental illnesses are common – they affect about one in five families in the U.S. These disorders – depression, phobias, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia and many others - are real diseases that are the real cause of mental illnesses.
